attached to their e-mails

Hello, teachers.

Would you take a look at the following?

1. Some of my relatives often send me several pictures of their towns attached to their e-mails.

I think the phrase "attached to their e-mails" can be interpreted in two ways:

a) ... send me several pictures of their towns which are attached to their e-mails.
or
b) ... send me several pictures of their towns by attaching the pictures to their e-mails.

In the case of #1, which is correct, a) or b)?

Or, are both possible?

If I put a comma in front of "attached," then will the meaning be fixed?
... send me several pictures of their towns, attached to their e-mails.

"A" would be the normal intended meaning. A comma doesn't change anything, but I would use one.
