    Default 'abreast of' or 'abreast on'

    Do keep me abreast on the situation.

    OR

    Do keep me abreast of the situation.


    Which one is right and why?

    'Of' is right - because that happens to be the preposition that we use with 'abreast' in that context.

    However, I've heard people mistakenly saying 'on'. 'Up-to-speed on' is acceptable, though 'up-to-speed' smells a bit of MBA to me (People often ask to stay in the loop when they want to keep up to speed.)

    On the other hand, it's 'au fait with'.
