Pull up / pull out

Hi, what should be used for orders, transactions, etc.?

I can't pull up / pull out the transaction from our database.

I'd use 'pull up' when it's a computer.

'pull out' seems to be more for physical things, as in,

I can't pull out your file now because the file cabinet is locked and I have no key.

Of the two, 'pull out' is better, I think that 'access' or 'extract' are better.

Honestly, I find either phrasal verb quite inappropriate. Unfortunately, they have been using 'pull up' which doesn't sound good neither to me nor to the context. Thanks again, bhaisahab!

It's perfectly logical, if it's used in that fashion, Paochai and that's how it's used.

Results 1 - 10 of about 4,040 English pages for "pull up the information".

That particular usage may not be how it's used for every dialect/area of English.

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,660 English pages for "pull out your file".

Absolutely - on the computer, we say "I'm pulling up that file now" or "Give me just a second to pull up your record."
