Can someone correct my motivation letter?

Dear Sirs,
I am writing to you to apply study psychology University of Plymouth.
First of all I would like to present some background about myself. My name is Janis, I am from Latvia. Since my early years the question of my future university studies and then a profession was very important to me. Therefore I decided to study in foreign university. When I graduated technical college, I did not want to stop on that, but to continue my undergraduate studies. Right after technical college I studied theology in Bible college. There I helped with translations from english to russian and that improved my english. In future I wish to become a scientist in psychology or work in psychiatry and take care with sick people.
It is my hope get education in your university and I am positive that the University of Plymouth is an excellent start for an career in psychology.
