Default Cover letter Proof Read Needed Please!

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone could please read over my cover letter and let me know if my grammer is correct. It was been years since I've been in school and I would like to make sure it is written properly before I send out my resume to a very promising position.

Thank you!

Shauna

Dear Director of Human Resources,

My name is Shauna Allan and I am interested in the Switchboard/Receptionist (Casual) position at the Chilliwack Community Police Office as advertised on www.gov.chilliwack.bc.ca . I would like to be considered for this position please as I have a passion for the corporate environment.
I perform very well in team environments as well as on my own. I believe I will be an asset to the RCMP as I am very goal orientated and also I enjoy completing my tasks to their fullest extent. I also possess a positive and outgoing personality with a well polished appearance.

If you see that I am a great fit for this position as I do, then my mom, Laura Willson at the Pacific Region Training Center in Chilliwack has agreed to aid me in learning the required skills and abilities for the position such as operating the switchboard, CPIC machine, radio equipment and to perform dispatching duties once I gain the required security clearance.

For the past 6 years I have worked as a courtesy clerk and price checker for the Canadian Superstore. I learned with great detail how to solve disputes over the telephone as well as in person with customers and staff members alike. In some events I had to liaise between staff, customers as well as department managers to solve each and every problem in a timely and efficient manner. I also have a great deal of experience using computer softwares such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel just to name a few. I completed a typing course from UCFV in 2002 with 68wpm and an accuracy of 90%. I will be more than happy to complete another typing exam as required. Since Superstore I have worked at Sammy J Peppers in Abbotsford as a hostess and as a server. I have plenty of experience speaking with guests either in person or over the telephone and as such I have exceptional experience in making sure the guest is comfortable and happy in any situation that may arise.

The enclosed resume provides additional details of my education and work history.

Sincerely

Shauna Allan

Something like this would be appropriate.

Dear Sir or Madam (find out the name if you can)

I am writing to express my interest in the Switchboard/Receptionist (Casual) position at the Chilliwack Community Police Office as advertised on www.gov.chilliwack.bc.ca . I would like to be considered for this position.

In my previous position with the Canadian Superstore I have gained much valuable experience in dealing with members of the public over the telephone. Since leaving Superstore I have not only dealt with customers on the telephone but also in face to face situations too.

I perform very well in both individually and in a team environment. I consider myself to be diligent and thorough in my work.

In addition to the above I also have a great deal of experience in using computer software such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. I completed a typing course from UCFV in 2002 with 68wpm and an accuracy of 90%.

For these reasons I believe I would be an asset to the RCMP. I have enclosed my resume which provides additional details of my education and work history. Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at .... or you can call me on ... at ...(times/days)

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully (Sincerely yours - if you know and use the name of the person you are writing to)
