Question

You have seen the following job advertisement in a magazine:

SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANTS Wanted!
(July to September 2003)

Summer Fun Ltd. is looking to recruit six Camp Assistants to work with children aged 11-16 from a number of nationalities. Priority will be given to applicants who:
  • have a special interest in Drama, Sports, or Arts and Craft
  • are responsible and can cope in a crisis
  • can speak at least two languages

If you would like to be considered for the post please apply in writing. (References are essential.)
Write your letter of application to the school owner.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in connection with your advertisement which I saw in last „The language magazin“. I would like to apply for the post of Camp Assistant in Summer Fun Ltd.

I am currently studying French and Italian at London University, so I speak both languages well. Last year I finished my Sports Science degree at Coventry University.

I feel I would be suitable for this position because I greatly enjoy working with children. During my leisure time I am working as an Instructor for children in our town Golf Club. I recently attended a First Aid course, which has given me the confidence to deal with emergency situations.

I have experience of this kind of work. Last summer I spent two months as a Golf Instructor in a Summer Camp in America.

My course finishes in the middle of June, so I would be available for work at any time during July and August.

Both of my referees are happy to be contacted immediately. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Daniela Gabriels

Referee Name:
Dr. Steven Spielberg (phone:023 235363) – my tutor at London University
Steve Craig (phone:033 235363)– Director of a Summer Camp
