Quote: Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya C/ Jordi Girona, 31. 08034 Barcelona Milan, May 10th, 2008 Dear Sirs, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is well-known throughout the academic community as a prestigious institution able to combine the disciplines of research and teaching. I am putting myself forward for the ETSEIB because I am captured by its international relevance that make it a modern, dynamic and growing up University. My name is Eliana, I’m attending the third year of an undergraduate course focused on Management and ProductionEngineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan. The Economy is one of my passion, but I’m also interested in Politics, Astronomy, Medicine and generally in Sciences and Arts (as drawing, singing, dancing, taking pictures and acting). I’m a very sociable and high powered girl with many friends, some of which from different countries, like France, England and Africa. I like to visit my foreign friends in their original countries not only because I like travel, but also because in this way I can discover many different cultures and see many new places. As to my personal attitude to travel, I went to China, Japan, U.S.A., Canada, Austria, England, however I have never seen Spain. I know that Spain is a wonderful country with many places nice to visit and Spanish are very kind and sociable. Moreover, I heard that Barcelona is an awesome city and I’m very exciting to visit it also because I’m a great lover of Gaudi’s concept of art and creative architectural design. One of the main reasons I wish to study abroad is that, in the context of globalisation, when cultural borders between countries are decreasing, the syllabus has an increasingly global nature. This Erasmus experience would enable me to study courses related to those I will have completed at Management and ProductionEngineering course here in Milan. Another reason for studying abroad is to learn a new language by dipping myself into the daily life of the country, especially in a non-English speaking country like Spain. I believe that there is no better language training than the country itself, and that speaking another language is essential in the commercial world. A further advantage is the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of Spain in real life rather than from television, books and internet. Living and studying abroad has benefits that I could not achieve by a short visit alone. It will allow me to broaden my perspective and contribute to my personal development by expanding my knowledge and widening my experience in a variety of academic disciplines. Additionally, this experience would allow me to interact with students from all over the world, thus I will benefit from an enlarged circle of friends and contacts. Indeed, when you enter in a different culture, you are exposed to new sights, sounds, smells, ideas, people and feelings. From this point of view, I consider it a challenging opportunity to explore and identify ways of improving myself. I enclose my current curriculum vitae with details of my educational experience and qualifications for your consideration. Thank you for your kind attention. Yours sincerely, Eliana Triggiani |
Say:its international relevance that makes it a modern, dynamic and growing university
