Statement of Purpose


My name is Pornthima Pornpimolwat. I have achieved a BSc degree in Computer Sciences from a leading and a very competitive university, Thammasat University in Thailand. My Computer Science degree has given me a strong basis to my analytical skills since applications development involves a document creation, database design, and applications coding.During 4 years of my study, I had been working part-time with my family business, Trangthaiwiwat Ltd. Partnership. This helped me to learn basic management skill and generated me an idea to run a small business. In the fourth year, I opened my own restaurant with my friends; unfortunately, it was closed down in a later year due to lacking a good management skills and experiences. By the way, after my graduation I have a joined a few companies and I have gathered many skills

The first and proper work experience after my graduation, I have got from Payzy (Thailand) Co., Ltd which in an international company. My job was to develop mobile and smart card applications. I have a direct experience to practice my knowledge. Working here for 9 months, I did not encounter any challenge and the job itself is like my senior project. So I decided to look for a new job.

Secondly, I entered ISI Internet Securities, Inc. with the position of Content Executive. My duties involved in launching new data, maintaining publication updates, co-ordination with Data Vendors for data, and product support to customer and sales team. This explored me a skill in Business due to contacting with vendors and clients for almost 2 years. While I was working here I got an offer from Orcsoft Co., Ltd. to work as a software engineer, so I grasp this opportunity.

Lastly, new position drove me to implement a project for the biggest telecommunication company in Thailand. Here, I learned the problem solving skills which is very challenging. I have to find the solution for the client within a short period of time.

Almost 4 years of my work experience in Computer Sciences as an employee, my personal goal is to have my own business in the future. In addition, the previous failure of my restaurant business is a significant motivation for me to develop my knowledge and competency in Business and management. I realized that I need a Management program with the concentration of management based approach to upper-management that produces solid problem-solvers or provide me in-depth knowledge and also specific managerial skills to cope with challenging situations in the business.

With regard to my previous degree and career, I believe that I have a good competence and knowledge to have a further study in your Business school. I am interested in MSc in Management at University of Leicester. If I graduate from your program, I will become an intellectual person and be able to use all knowledge and theories to apply in a real life situation at work. Furthermore, it will be a great opportunity for my future career and a contribution of my expertise to strengthen my country’s competitiveness as a whole.
