Hi Everybody.
I read in some newspapers talking this idiom but I don't understand exactly what does this mean. Everybody can help me this ? I just guess that this meaning maybe shows rumors or bases on the scientific researches, is this right? Thanks very much.

Food products are required to have their contents listed on their packaging, so What is printed on the packet is what you should be receiving. So the customer should be able to trust the statement made to them [by the producer or the journalist or the politician - depending on the context].
