Can anybody help me with an idiom or saying to express this thought.. "Knowledge grows or expand with sharing as opposed to depleting" Thanks

That's a nice thought, but I don't think there's a common idiom that expresses just that. So why not coin a new phrase? "When knowledge is given, nothing is lost, and all are richer for the gift."

I wouldn't use the indefinite article with knowledge.

Can you suggest another idiom. Is it not so that idiomatic language is beyond the rules of grammar?

No, it has to obey today's rules, or yesterday's.
