"Shoot for the stars" means to set high goals for yourself. If you are a dancer, and you want to shoot for the stars, then you would practice every day and try to get into the best dance academies--basically you would do anything you could do to become a great dancer.

And a "Shooting star" is someone who has a very short time in the limelight.

I asked what shooting stars meant because I saw the sentence ''No one knows if shooting stars will land'' on the lyrics of a song.
The song is 'Whatever Wil be Will Be' by Vanessa Hudgens and the chorus goes like this:

I finally learned to say
Whatever will be will be
I've learned to take
The good, the bad and breathe
'Cause although we like
To know what life's got planned
No one knows if shooting stars will land

Could you explain me the meaning of that sentence, please ?
Thank you very much, once more.

In the lyrics which you have written, an analogy is drawn between life/dreams/fate and shooting stars. Shooting stars are characterized by short lived bright spots travelling in dark sky coming from outer space to earths surface.

Astronomically "shooting stars" are meteors which are rocks/objects from space which get attracted by earths gravitational force and enter earths atmosphere. Due to friction while entering earths atmosphere lot of heat is produced and they catch fire and burn out before they can land to the surface.

Curious About Astronomy: What are shooting stars?
* Shooting star - (Astronomy): Definition
