| can you help me? Im looking for the adjective/adverbial meaning the opposite to the word live as in: "Is it a live football match or ________ ?" In my country, when there is a live game on TV, there is a sign "live" under the TV channel logo. If they present the game with a day delay, for example, there is written something like "pre-recorded broadcast". Yet, I don't feel this is the right expression we might see on under an English channel logo. What do you think? Thanks for your kind help. Havent been able to find an answer to such a trivial question in none of my dictionaries. Waawe |

| "Tape Delay" might be used, especially in the past. It is now more common to have frequent reminders of the date the game was played. A replay of a game from last Saturday might say "From 10/10" |

| Hey Dave, thank you much for your help. So, does it mean there is usually not a sign under the channel logo on US TV stations informing viewers whether the programme is 'live' or 'tape delay'? BTW: Do you use the word replay for the whole game? I thought it described only slow motion sequences of the game. Thank you for assistance. Good day to you. | In most TV guides in my area (local cable providers and satellite), they list shows with the "live" label when they are live broadcasts. Repeat showings of live-taped programs do not have the "live" label. Basically, "live" means live, and no "live" means it was pre-recorded. I see this mostly on sports events. College football matches are often repeated on the same day at later times, and only the first showing that is "live" has the label. Hope that helps. |

| Sorry I missed your "replay" question. The word "replay" is used for any repeat showing of an individual segment of the program. A slow-motion replay is a special kind, even though it is the most popular. They often show replays at regular speed as well. |
