"Remain here!" he commanded. "If you stir one step your blood will be on your own head!" ??
What is the meaning of "your blood will be on your own head"? Is this a set phrase?
How will I use it in my own sentence?
hi adam
i think this phrase has the same meaning as this one:"have blood on one's hand",that means:be responsible for the death of someone.
for instance:The leaders of this war have the blood of many thousands of people on their hands
goodluck
Yes- you will be responsible for your own death/injury.
To my ear, having someone's blood on your hands (skyhigh0 - note always plural, regardless of how many people are involved) is not the same as someone's blood being 'on your head'. With 'hands', the other person has died; with 'head' they haven't. In skyhigh0's example 'many thousands of people' have already died.
