    Default night drifting away

    Hello what does this phrAse mean?
    for me it sound like night goes by. can we also use this phrase for other things rather than night>
    for example time is drifting away.

    The term ideally means what you understood it as. However, poetically words can mean a lot of other things too, depending upon the poet's disposition.

    Simply put, it just means what you understood it as.
