IDIOMS
Hello!
Are these phrases correct?:
-I messed up this recipe.
-Don't make a big deal out of it! (Could we say "don't make a big deal "of it"?)
-This room smells of pizza.
-He can stay months without speaking to anyone.
Thank you very much for your help.

I am not sure about this one.
Hair, some bottles on a shelf, could be messed up but a recipe?
-Don't make a big deal out of it! (Could we say "don't make a big deal "of it"?)
Both ways could be OK.
-This room smells of pizza.
OK for me.
-He can stay months without speaking to anyone.
OK for me.
Thank you very much for your help.

Re: IDIOMS
Yes, you can mess up a recipe.

Re: IDIOMS
I would say the top three were all okay.
Your two versions of 'don't make big deal' are okay.
But I would say
He can 'go for months' without saying anything.
I hope this helps.

Is it also possible to say

Isn't it better to use "say" actually for this purpose? If I used "say" it means "his complete action" during that time, for me.
without say ~ without just one saying
Is the say here the bare infinitive of the verb to say?
Thanks
