"To be in a difficult situation". One of my dictionaries says that it's old-fashioned. Is it used nowadays?
Gosh, you guys are old!
My version is "in a bit of a jam."
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
I use both (with 'in a bit of')
