OK, I have heard conflicting explanations on this one. Could anyone help me with the origins and meanings of it? I will share the views I have collected once I've seen what people here think. Cheers

lol... that's me on the link that you have found. notice the same nickname... It was the first thread I made dealing with this idiom. Thanks anyway...

Oh .. Sorry, I didn't pay attention to the nicknames

But it looks like quite a comprehensive explanation there on that thread, doesn't it? I also didn't know about this idiom, so it was useful for me too
