I do not remember where I saw this dialogue:

Mahoney - Do you remember the restaurant we went to Friday.
Marcus - Sure I do. It was the ' Silver Castle '.
Mahoney - No, we've never been to the ' Silver Castle '.
Marcus - Maybe it was the Gold Coin.
Mahoney - No Gee . It is on the tip of my tongue.
Marcus - Never mind. The food was terrible.

Can anyone tell me the meaning of "No Gee"?

Gee- this is used to show surprise, frustration, etc. So the person says ' no' because they know it is wrong, then 'gee' to show that it's annoying that they can't think of the correct name.

"Gee" you wrote actually came from the expression "Jesus Christ" Since calling god's name is a sin as in "the 10 commandments" People just call "Gee" then stop. Sometimes you even hear people say "gees" So it became that term "Gee" ever since.

I know this answer is abolutely not applicable. But I thought worth sharing.
Meaning of the idiom 'No Gee' is 'No Sir'. Actually, in India Hindi is a common language. 'Gee' or 'Ji' is an expression of 'Respected Sir'. Yes Sir or No Sir is often expressed as 'Ha Ji' or Na Ji'
Since it is a quote from a dialogue, if spoken in Indian environment, 'No Gee' means 'No Sir'.
This is my interpretation.

It's always a good idea to start a new thread for a new question for maximum exposure, but - you can do that next time!!

It means...

JUST before you say it, before the words leave your mouth - they are gone.

"It is on the tip on my tongue" - when you can ALMOST remember what you want to say, but you have forgotten. Very frustrating!

A variation is:

"It was on the tip on my tongue" - when you were / are almost about to say something, but stop. Often when you are just about to say something you may regret, or will cause offence.
