1. To straight the truth- this doesn't make sense. It might be 'get straight to the truth', meaning be direct 2. To bend the rules- nearly cheat- use the rule to your advantage without quite breaking it 3. To take credit for something you haven't done- you get praised but you didn't do it 4. To get away with something- not get caught when you do something wrong 5. To keep your eye on your own paper- don't look at others' work, like in an exam 6. To watch someone like a hawk- watch closely 7. To be kicked out of the school- expelled 8. To turn someone in- report to police or authorites 9. To tell on someone/ To squeal on someone- report to teacher, parent, authority 10. To copy something word for word- copy exactly Try here for idioms and idiomatic expressions

As for #1 maybe you meant "to straighten out the truth"...? meaning to clear up the confusing facts or any misunderstanding.

I am a new comer. May be my 1st post. But I am not a student of English. Academically completed studies but nice forum to brush up in subject where I was the weakest in class. 'Idioms'. Does it have hany relevance with 'Idiots'. May be not, but still how does this word 'idioms' got derived in its present meaning? Can anyone clarify please? Regards asesh
