Default cut out of the same cloth

Gingrich is cut out of the same cloth as rest of the republican field.

What does this phrase exactly mean?

    (Not a Teacher)

It means that now matter how liberal (or libertarian) Gingrich seems, he is still a Republican at heart.

We usually say "cut from the same cloth".

And if he's cut from the same cloth, he's made of the same stuff. Essentially, he's no different.
