Entirely different from my guess :P:P:P

I think what is meant by "kill with kindness" (at least part of the time) is that while a person might mean well, he or she might "smother" a person by doing too much for him or not letting him do enough for himself, thus not letting him be independent.
I think that is one valid interpretation of that phrase.

Actually this has its origins in the Bible.
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good
Be kind to your enemy and you will convert him to a friend, killing the hostility between you by shaming him into submission, so to speak.
