Hi everybody,
I don`t quite understand the meaning of the idiom "in rude health". What does it mean, where does it come from, and how could one explain such a wordplay as "I am a person in rude health"?
Rude has had different meaning in the past: http://machaut.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/...R.sh?WORD=rude
A rude person didn't mean the same- it did imply a lack of finesse and manners, but also could mean that a person was not delicate and easilyaffected, so it implies strength.
