Re: webs related to numerical idioms
'Double shot of my baby's love' is stretching it a bit, isn't it? Mind you, the Swinging Medallions are probably glad of the plug.
-
Re: webs related to numerical idioms
You think it's a stretch????... well.... OK.... seemed righteous at the time.
I think they're actually still playing, on the schlockly circuit, college parties and the like, aren't they??...... probably with the children and grandchildren having inherited the positions.
Actually I thought You Only Live Twice was the stretch, or maybe "long shot" since it doesn't entail a specific number. But ... you guys would like the Ian Fleming reference, n'est ce pas?
Hey, tdol, I bet you've got some good ones floating around in there.... throw in your two pence worth, why doncha?

Re: webs related to numerical idioms
23 Skidoo- now that takes me back.
The Swinging Medallions are still playing- I heard a more recent track of theirs and it just reminded me of how good their first effort was. Have you heard the Residents' cover of Double Shot?
Unless I missed it, 'body double' can be added to the list. And a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Cloud seven is an alternative for cloud nine.
-
Re: webs related to numerical idioms
now tdol... ))) surely you know 23 skidoo from your parents or old TV. That was popular in I think the 1920s!! I think I remember it movies...
I'm guessing you're about my age, around mid-40ish or so.??
Well, the Sw. Med. are around, eh? Well, I didn't know they did records still. I figured they were playing the crap circuit of fraternity parties and so on. Good money probably, but hard work, and surely a come-down from being on Top 40 Radio.
-
Re: webs related to numerical idioms
23 Skidoo were a band to me from the late seventies, early eighties period- I didn't know the 1920s version. You're right about my age.
