Dear Teachers,

I need your help in clarifing the following :-

the idiom (in your face) was explained in Cobuild dictionary of Idioms,
i understand its meaning but the example that was given by the dictionary
was not totally understood, it goes like this :

and blues. totally in your face

Lea is a stand up comedian. Her/his act involves telling jokes, which (Wry), which contrasts ideas and expressions (Wity) and which offend (downright rude). Along with telling jokes, Lea plays Jazz and Blues songs, in sudden strong bursts of emotional play (gusty). The act is totally in your face (it's loud, offensive, and shocking. Unlike anything you'd expect from a stand up comedian.)
