hi, can you help with these sayings?
- down the ages
- not least
- to paint yourself into a corner
- off the coast

1 Throughout history/for a very long time
2- it means that this is not the least important- we often say 'last but not least' to show that the position in the list doesn't reflect the importance.
3- Get yourself into a position where you can't escape, or get out of trouble.
