Re: Hit with a fish I've heard it once on the radio, it was a talk-back show and they were discussing Young People's Colloquialism and Slang. It should be "He looked at me like I'd been hit with a fish". Well, the story is, the chances of one getting hit with a fish by another is extremely slim in the Western culture, almost zilch, in fact; except in Asterix, Unhygienix might toss a fish at you if you say anything negative about his fish. (You need to read Asterix comics to know what I'm talking about) So to say ".......like I'd been hit with a fish" is saying "like I'm totally out there, completely ridiculous" or "fat chance" sort of thing. Basically this sort of sayings stem from young people, like many often do. |
