... based on a dare

I can't understand this phrase ,plz help me with the meaning ?

Just surfing on the Internet ,I found this phrase at the blog of some fangirls about their idol's photographs .I mean kinda they wrote the photographs were based on a dare .
Does it mean that their idols have beauty themselves?

It means that someone challenged them to do the photos, presumably said they wouldn't dare pose like that.

0.o Oops , it has that meaning ,well , now I understand this phrase better .
Perhaps,because those guys on that picture were made up in a feminine way .

A dare is a challenge - usually only used among children or teenagers. For example, two children are walking in a park and come upon an obviously rickety bridge. There is a sign saying "BRIDGE CLOSED" because it is dangerous. One child will say to the other "I dare you to walk across that!" The other child has the option to decline, but unfortunately, in most cases, when someone is "dared" they go ahead and perform the task, no matter how risky.

I've already known the meaning of "dare" and I am only curious about how they could wrote "based on dare " for some photos .Luckily,tdol had explained that for me.Thanks you ,anyway.
