Nelson Mandela once said "There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you."

I just wanna know if this saying mean "shrinking yourself in order that other people will not feel insecure when being near you is not a wise thing to do", is it right? If not, please clarify.

It does mean that, and 'shrinking' can also mean pulling back from contact, not expressing yourself.
