Default Could never get the strength of you

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure about the meaning of phrases like:
"Could never get the strength of you", and:
"Had the strength of you for a long time."
Could somebody explain them to me?
Thank you!

It sounds to me as if the person wasn't able to judge how strong someone was.
