It does not sound right to me.
Perhaps they meant to use "offshoot" which would mean a sequel to the original movie or building on the original movie in some way, the original movies theme or story gave way to a new movie.
"'For A Few Dollars More' is an offshoot of 'A Fist Full of Dollars'."
"Off-shot" can mean taken behind the scenes at a film, party or concert.
