"dog days" - very hot summer days
"go to the dogs" - become ruined
"not have a dog's chance" - have no chance at all (informal)

Example
: I think that buying a plane ticket before we make any definite plans is putting the cart before the horse...

''have got ants in your pants''= be unable to stay still because you are anxious or excited about something.
eg. Relax and enjoy yourself. You have really got ants in your pants about something tonight.
