to blue pencil something= to censor something.

eg.

Reports on the mistreatment of the political prisoners were blue pencilled by the authorities.

to blue pencil:

see pink elephants = see things that are not really there, because you are drunk

eg. I think I ought to stop drinking that whisky. If I have any more tonight I'll be seeing pink elephants.

to give someone/something the green light
to give permission for someone to do something or for something to happen, to give the go-ahead

Transport MEPs gave the green light to the EU-US Open Sky - a press release

and respectively

to get the green light
to get a signal or permission to do something

We're ready to launch the campaign as soon as we get the green light

I watched The All Blacks yesterday and no... it wasn't some chimney-sweeps at work

The All Blacks are New Zealands's national team in rugby union.
