Default COLOR IDIOMS continuation of animal idioms!

hi,

Let's play and learn!
I opened this topic in order to write each of us ONE idiom in which there is A COLOR. The idiom MUST be explained by you! Mine is the following:

"In the red" means "be in debt"
At this time of year we are usually in the red.

best wishes to those who enter this play,
madox

"He turned bright red!"

It means the person who turned red was very embarrassed. People often blush when they're embarrassed, making their face appear red.

hi again,

"to be not as green as one cabbage looking" = not as foolish or inexperienced as one looks or seems.

eg. Peter is a lazy boy but he is not as green as he cabbage looking.

Purple patch.

I saw this in newspaper article that written about a friend of mine some time back (so you may say it's a bit of a cheat). I'd never heard of it so I asked him what it meant...

"It means a run of good luck, or a winning streak" was his reply!
