Get it over with

This is a wonderful forum!

I'm attending a course in which students take turns to do presentations as course assignments. Some people prefer to do it earlier and some others will wait until the end of the term. Those who want to go earlier would say, accroding to my memory, "Well, I just want to get it over with asap."

I just need some clarification: is it "get it over with", or I can also say " get over with it asap", or "get over asap"? Do they mean the same to people?

The first is right . Most people would understand the second, and some would accept it. The third is acceptable - only with a totally different meaning.

(And the people who do it sooner have a much less stressful life!)

Thank you and you are right! Doing it later doesn't really make your presentation that much better; during the waiting you only get increasingly nervous and desperately want to "get it over with".
