Question Rest on your laures

Hi. I don't want to ask what does it mean -- we have exactly the same idiom in Polish. What I want to ask is whether this idiom is still often used and is not considered outdated. May it be used in formal language, or just in casual conversation?
Thanks,
Nyggus
