A penny for your thoughts

Hello everyone!

Well, I know that there is actually a definition for this idiom but I didn't understand it pretty well, how is it used? I mean, can I say "I am a penny of your thought"?

Just say 'A penny for your thoughts' when you are interested in what someone is thinking about so hard.

So, lets suppose that I am having a talk with a friend and she is talking about her holiday in Australia, of course, I find it really interesting..so, should I say "I am a penny of your thought"?

If she's already talking about it, you'd just say something to encourage her, like 'Tell me more."

'A penny for your thoughts' no verb means 'Tell me what you are thinking about [but not talking about]'.
