Idioms

I would like to ask, It's best to used "Idioms" in an essay ? I mean quite a number of Idioms (at the same time used in compatible way to describe the sentence correctly)? because I'm afraid that too much might confused the teacher or maybe the teacher don't even know the particular meaning of it,especially "The Asian"teacher. If you know what I mean :).

My feeling is that you should only use idioms where they add a point to what you want to say.
