I must say I would like to share your view. But unfortunately I can't because my experience, despite being very little, suggests me that things just don't stand as you say.
How is it possible that politicians talk about the same issues but explain them in a completely different way, depending on their party? Aren't thy talking about the same fact?
It's obvious that someone must be lying. But as far as they keep saying on tv how they believe things stand the majority of people will think that things stand exactly how they believe.

Of course, what happened in the past cannot be changed but what can be changed is our remembrance. History is immutable as far as people can remember and protect the truth.

As for Nietzsche's thought I absolutely agree with you (we have found something we agree on!! ). He has paved the way for nazi racism and personality cult in totalitarianisms.
