Exclamation Emotional idioms I need some help

Hi all. Actually I've taught myself the English idioms and I wonder if I will write like another good writers one day.

Here I have some questions about these:
Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Blood and thunder
( I need some examples for thoses idioms)

I need to know some emotional idioms but it must be sad I mean gloomy.
thank you in advance.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder = If you are a long way from the person you love, you remember the good qualities and your feelings become stronger. It is countered by "Out of sight, out of mind" = the further you are from someone, the more easily he/she is forgotten.

Blood and thunder = Noise and turmoil - not usually used in relation to emotions.
