Try,

Sometimes you do things that cause you to feel regret for the rest of your life. How can I express that using an idiom?

I'm not sure about an idiom. What about?

I regret having married him. (i.e. I should never have married him)
I regret not having married him. (i.e. I should have married him)
I regret having not married him. (same as above)

All the best, :D

Thanks, Casiopea, I know this way of expression. But since in China, we have such an idiom, I just want to know if there is any relative idioms in English.

This doesn't not answer your question altogether (these are not idioms)but here it is anyway:

It will haunt you for the rest of your life.
These bitter memories will be engraved on your mind.
You'll rue it for the rest of your life.
You'll suffer the pangs of remorse for the rest of your life.

Not many idioms come to mind.

Act in haste, repent in leisure.
You will rue the day you made this decision.
You're going to regret this.
