Default flash in the pan

Overnight success is flash in the pan.

You can say anything you like and no one can stop you.

But, you should not be redundant.

Flash in the pan; overnight success are basically the same and putting them together is a bit redundant.

I'd like to add my two cents worth.
flash in the pan = someone or something that experiments fleeting and transitory fame or popularity (fast come, fast go)

Susie:

"two cents worth," looks more like a Ben Franklin's worth to me!

Nine days' wonder means a thing or an event that creates a brief sensation. So you can say they mean the same thing, imho.

I agree with Susie Smith. :) Although, FRC makes a good point about the (inherent) redudancy.

EX: She was a flash in the pan, a nine day wonder. (OK)

In this example, 'a nine day wonder' serves to modify 'a flash in the pan'. It restates 'flash in the pan' and adds the length of time that she was a flash in the pan.

All the best,
