Default The eye of the boss fattens the horse.

The eye of the boss fattens the horse
This is a rough translation of a Spanish saying meaning that when the owner is in the business, nobody steals. Is there an English saying that captures this?

Thank you very much!! t.

None springs to mind, but there is an idiom that says the exact reverse: "When the cat's away the mice will play."

PS El ojo del patrón engorda al caballo - is that it? If so, patrón is more the owner. Anyway, I like the image!

Thank you very much BobK. I knew of that saying. I am only curious to see if there is one that was similar to the one in Spanish, if not, I may have well coined one!!
Round where I live the saying goes "El ojo del amo...", same thing anyway.

I'll be back with some more soon!! Cheers, t.
