In England, kindergartens are usually called "nurseries" or "nursery schools"'.
You can therefore be a nursery teacher, or a nursery assistant or even a nursery nurse (but not in any medical sense).
They are sometimes called "pre-schools" so you can be a pre-school teacher too.
Finally, they're not all women, there are a few male nursery teachers.

In the US, there is a definitie difference between nursery school, pre-school and kindergarten. Kindergarten is the first year of compulsory education in the school system. Nursery and pre-schools are optional choices for parents; it is not required that children attend such a class before enrolling in kindergarten. The person in charge of a kindergarten class is a degreed, certified teacher.
