literally
Hi,
I saw this sentence in a book:
"Many notables were literally surrounded by armed bodyguards."
What does literally means?
Thank you,
Ali

Re: literally
this is kind of late but litterally means in reality. this shows that you are not exaggerating at all or telling the complete truth. It is the opposite of figuratively which means you are exaggerating, underexaggerating, using metaphors etc.
