Here's one I heard on TV lately:
You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.Meaning:
You do me a favor, and I'll do you a favor.

This is a good one.
Just was wondering whether or not, it would be possible to get a negative connotation, if an unreal conditional mood were used, since the verb scratch connotes a negative meaning.
In other words, would the meaning be:
You did something wrong to me and I would react in the same manner,
If I said:
‘You scratched my back and I will/would scratch yours’.
Does that sound ok in this sense.
