Hi people,
while reading through some lyrics yesterday (Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me, if this is helpful^), I encountered a (for me) strange english saying that looks like this:
If there’s lessons to be learned, I’d rather get my jamming words in first so, tell you something that I’ve found, that the worlds a better place when it’s upside down boy.
I frantically want to know what this is supposed to mean, so I can finally come to rest^ which is because I really love the english language. Unfortunately, google-researches didn't get me any further :(
Thanks for the help in advance :)
(By the way, my name is Roman, I'm new here, I'm living in Germany and I'm 18)

Welcome to the forums.
To jam something means to block it, prevent it from moving. So "jamming" could mean that her words block those of others.
She could also be punning on the meaning of playing music [as in "jam session of jazz"]
I know this song. I think Anglika's second suggestion is most likely:
She could also be punning on the meaning of playing music [as in "jam session of jazz"]
What exactly do you people mean? Do you need some more information what this songtext is about or...?
BTW: I already knew what "to jam" means, but I just cant think of any sensful meaning of this saying including the word "to jam"
Here is the complete version of the lyrics(if this helps??) :
Ooh Watching Me, Hanging By A String This Time
Oh Easily The Climax Of A Perfect Life.
Ooh Watching Me, Hanging By A String This Time.
Oh Easily, My Smiles Worth A Hundred Lies.
If There’s Lessons To Be Learned, I’d Rather Get My Jamming Words In First Oh
Tell Ya Something That I’ve Found, That The Worlds A Better Place When It’s Upside Down Boy
If There’s Lessons To Be Learned, I’d Rather Get My Jamming Words In First Oh
When Your Playing With Desire, Don’t Come Running To My Place When It Burns Like Fire, Boy.
Sweet About Me, Nothing Sweet About Me, Yeah
Sweet About Me, Nothing Sweet About Me, Yeah
Sweet About Me, Nothing Sweet About Me Yeah
Sweet About Me, Nothing Sweet About Me, Yeah
Blue, Blue, Blue Waves They Crash
As Time Goes By, So Hard To Catch
And Too, Too Smooth, Ain’t All That
Why Don’t You Ride My Side Of The Tracks

"jamming" within these lyrics wouldn't allude to "parting" , would it?
I had a look in the urban dictionary
"Get my jammin' words in" apparently means getting a few words in edgewise while you have a chance.

I really don't know - the only person who can answer this question with any validity is the person who wrote it. Personally I find it obscure to a degree.
Hi Ron - we posted at the same moment. Where did you track down that interpretation?
