Default playing for keeps

Hi,
I would like to know the meaning of the expression "playing for keeps".
I have looked for it all over, but I have not found it.
Thanks

Hi,

If you are playing for keeps, you are playing (cards, etc) with the understanding that the winner gets to keep the winnings.

Hope this helps.
