For a lark, just for fun, without planning, and for no great purpose.
A bufman's holiday is probably a misspelling of busman's holiday. The image is of a cross-country bus driver taking a charter bus holiday package. Free time spent in much the same pursuit as one's work.
No flies on him He keeps moving, always into something, doing something. Not necessarily bad, just busy.

Hi, another idiom similar to "no flies on him", is "on the ball", to be alert and able.
