Default Turn Rabbit

In PrisonBreak Season 1 Episode 2, D.B.Cooper, when asked to comment the idea of breaking out, said "Three days inside, and he's already thinking about turning rabbit". What does he mean, especially by the "turning rabbit" part? Thanks!

"Turning rabbit" = running away in fright, chickening out of a plan or scheme.

Hi Ouisch,

Thank you for your answer. Yesterday, I spent rather a long time to search the phrase from the Internet source but got nothing. Is it a slang phrase or what? Is it usual in colloquial expression? Thanks!

In this context 'turning rabbit' can simply mean 'escaping' as well. (without the sense of cowardice)
