"To walk the talk" is a confused corruption of: "You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?" It separates people who brag from people who get things done.

I think it's an old army expression. It got twisted around by people who didn't really understand it.

Right. As I was saying above, it used to be called walking the walk, but it got mixed around.
